Hendrix – burning his guitar at the Monterey Pop Festival – has become one of the most iconic images of rock and roll. Taken by photographer Ed Caraeff in 1967, who was 17 at the time, had never seen Hendrix before, nor was he familiar with his music. . As Hendrix lit his guitar, Caraeff snapped this memorable image that not only defined the musician as an artist, but for Caraeff too as it appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine two times, launching the photographers career. . See more of Caraeff’s photography at our current exhibition to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Hendrix’s passing. . 'BOLD AS LOVE’ Celebrating Hendrix, is now open until 30th September 2020.
